The standards have applied since 1 July 2026, so you’re expected to be operating to them now — and if you’re not fully there, it breaks into seven clear steps. SIL is support for most or all of the day in a participant's home (new registration group 0138). The label on your invoices doesn't decide it — the delivery model does.

Experienced workers aren't the same as evidenced workers. Under the new standards, providers need to be able to evidence that workers are appropriately trained for their SIL roles, participant needs, risks and support tasks. The application is the gateway. The audit evidence is the real work — and you’re expected to be compliant now, since 1 July 2026, not when the audit happens.

- Lodge with the NDIS Commission for group 0138
- Existing providers may continue during transition if applied by 1 Oct
- Commission issues a scope of audit
- You then engage an Approved Quality Auditor (AQA)
Audit (after application)
- Stage 1: AQA reviews documents & governance
- Stage 2: on-site — systems in use, staff & participants consulted
- Auditor submits a recommendation
- Commission makes the final registration decision
